LOVE IS . . .
Scripture Reading - 1 Corinthians 13:4-8
4 Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud
5 or rude. Love does not demand its own way. Love is not irritable, and it keeps no record of when it has been wronged.
6 It is never glad about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out.
7 Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.
8 Love will last forever, . . . . . NLT
The first portion of 1 Corinthians 13 gives us a resume on Love, we all know that God is Love but we sometimes overlook the fact that your display of Love is exactly how much people see God in you. Yes, your ability to walk in the fullness of Love will show everyone exactly how much God is really working through your life. We can never expect for God to work through us if He is not constantly working within us. When the Lord ask us to abide in Him He is hoping that we live inside of His Tender Love so that we can saturate ourselves in His Sweet Love to permeate His Unconditional Love to others. God’s working inside of us is always measured by the fruit of the spirit growing (developing) in our heart. Notice that patience and kindness is at the top of the list because this shows us exactly what we need to start developing first to properly demonstrate God’s nature and character. Even though God is living inside of us we should never be proud or conceited because He chose us by grace, we did not earn Him by works. The next verse reveals that rudeness is of the devil simply because it is self-centered. Rudeness belittles people while respectfulness builds others up. Typically those who insist on having things go their way are the ones noted for being demanding. Irritableness is a symptom of ungodliness, irritation is usually manifested by complaining or moodiness, and both are sign of babies in Christ or the behavior of the unsaved people of the world. We must not keep a running tab on people who do us wrong especially those within our own family, job or our places of fellowship where we gather (our church). Jesus warned us that we would have trouble in the world so why should the Christian be surprised when it happens? Sure they will be injustices in the world but compared to the gross injustice Jesus paid for our sins how can we be upset? We must always keep our faith in Christ Jesus, being hopeful and enduring every trying problem because we know that when we walk in God’s Love we shall never lose a battle no matter how imposing the threat. Children of God let us always rejoice because we are made of Love and we truly do Love One Another because “Love Is”…….the basis for our Salvation in Christ Jesus. Amen!
